Family policies
How the studio handles watching, pickup and the rest, in plain words.
Watching class and recitals
Parents wait in the waiting room while class is on, so the dancers can look to their teacher. In the first full week of every month, the door opens for the last ten minutes of each class and families watch from the doorway. The May recital is for families to watch, from seats at the front.
Drop-off and pickup
A teacher meets every dancer at the studio door and brings them in. A grown-up stays in the waiting room for the whole class, and at the end the teacher hands the dancer back at the same door. Tell us who else may collect, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
Keep your dancer home with a fever, a rash or a stomach bug, and bring them back after a full day without symptoms. Message the studio and we will find a make-up class.
What to wear and bring
Leggings or tights and a plain top, with bare feet or ballet slippers. Tutus are welcome and never needed. Please bring a water bottle with a lid, and hair up if it is long.
Absences and late arrival
Message the studio before class if your dancer will miss it. A dancer who arrives more than ten minutes late is welcome to wait and join the next class, so the circle is not interrupted.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the holidays the school district closes for, and for winter weather. We text families the morning of a closure, and we plan a make-up class when we can.
Still wondering?
