In the room

What a creative movement class is like

Five parts, in the same order every week, so a small dancer knows what comes next.

  1. 01

Step 1: Come in and settle

Shoes off at the door, then a few minutes of quiet moving on the floor.

  2. 02

    Step 2: The hello song

The circle says hello to every dancer by name, with a wave.

  3. 03

Step 3: A story in motion

The teacher tells a short story, and the class becomes the animals in it.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Scarves and hoops

Waving, stepping and tiptoeing with the props, one at a time.

  5. 05

    Step 5: Goodbye

A slow stretch, a goodbye song, and the teacher hands each dancer back at the door.

Before you start

Before the first class

  1. 01

    What to wear

Leggings or tights and a plain top, with bare feet or ballet slippers. Tutus are welcome and never needed.

  2. 02

    Length and size

Thirty minutes for twos, forty-five for threes and fours, in classes of up to 10 twos or 8 threes and fours, on Monday and Saturday mornings.

  3. 03

    Where you wait

A grown-up waits in the waiting room for the whole class. The teacher hands your dancer back to you at the door.
